We are Radio Southland 96.4 FM – Southland’s only
locally-owned, community access radio station. This means that anyone in the
community can have a voice on-air and online.
We broadcast on 96.4FM in Southland, New Zealand – but we
also live stream continuously through this website and have a wide range of
podcasts of our shows here too – it’s like radio’s version of TV on Demand!
Radio Southland is here to give our diverse community a
voice, so if you are part of a group or organisation that promotes our
community or various interests then we’re here to help.
We also provide the opportunity for people who have always
wanted to “give radio a go” to live their dreams. It’s really easy to make
radio – come and see our staff for a tour and a chat and we’ll show you how you
could make it happen too.
We are part of an Access Media Network, and a member of the
Community Access Media Alliance (CAMA). NZ on Air assists Access stations
financially, with the expectation that we ensure that a range of broadcasts is
available to provide for the interests of women, youth, children, persons with
disabilities and minorities in the community, including ethnic minorities”
(Section 36(c) of the Act).
We are to “encourage a range of broadcasts that reflects the
diverse religious and ethical beliefs of New Zealanders.”
