New Year, new shows!

Welcome to 2020 from Radio Southland!

We have two new locally produced shows to share this month, and a new addition from our AirShare partners!

Ask Maua:

Those of you who follow A Voice of Samoa will know it's host, Maua. Well, he's shifting focus - A Voice of Samoa has ended, and he's back for 2020 with his new show - Ask Maua!

We all have questions about our leaders, our lives, our society and our relationships, especially from a Pasifika perspective. Dr Maua Faleauto is encouraging public debate by giving his opinions on your burning questions. Writers can ask to be anonymous, but if not, only your first name will be used.

Do you have a question? Email Maua at, or head to and join to submit yours, and enjoy the debate online too!

Ask Maua - 6.30pm Thursdays, on Radio Southland 96.4FM!

Out There!:

Are you a part of the LGBTQI+ community, or an ally? Or just want to know more about the issues in our community? Out There is the show for you! Join Rach & Gordon on this panel show, Thursdays at 5.30pm, where they sit down with a wide variety of guests to talk about the issues & news in the rainbow community. From gender diversity, to parenting a transgender child, to government policy, to interpersonal violence in relationships, to advocacy & outreach, to transitioning as an older adult, to fertility & adoption, to profiles on local & national trailblazers, to sexual health, to understanding intersex issues – there’s not much they won’t cover! The show debuts on Thursday, with an interview with Green MP and Rainbow Issues spokesperson Jan Logie! Head to their Facebook page - to join the discussion!

Jazz Actualities:

Sadly, Calder Prescott's My Kind of Jazz, a show we aired via one of our Access Radio partners has ended, as has Jazz Bros. But don't totally despair - we're now airing Jazz Actualities from Coast Access Radio, alternating with the usual 'Kind of Jazz' instead. So tune in on Wednesdays at 10pm and enjoy Jazz Actualities, hosted by Adam Melville, a notable Kiwi jazz musician!
