November’s new shows

Kia ora!

Radio Southland is offering two new programmes sourced through our AirShare arrangement with other community access radio stations to our listeners this month.

  1. Preserving Memories: Pandemic – This is a 3 part series commemorating the centenary of the Spanish Flu Pandemic. This was made by Margi – a programme maker at Arrow FM. It includes interviews with Professor Howard Phillips in South Africa (pandemic expert), and Professeor Geoffrey Rice & Gareth Winter in NZ, as well as narration by Jacky Fuller. Featuring a full overview, insights into Samoa & South Africa (hardest hit by the pandemic), and information on the effects of the pandemic in NZ, this is a great insight into an interesting part of world & NZ history.
  2. Kia Ora Brazil – A magazine-style show inĀ Portuguese – featuring news, commentary and music from Brazil, plus discussions about life in New Zealand for ex-pat Brazilians, hosted by Maya Hasegawa. This show is shared via Free FM in Hamilton!

We hope you enjoy these new historical & cultural shows by NZ programme makers!
