In its fourteenth year, ILT Kidzone is Southland’s premier family event, and as always it’s a pleasure to broadcast live throughout the event – opening the door for kids to try their own hand at radio!
Based out of a mobile caravan studio at the festival site (James Hargest College – Senior Campus) – the Radio Southland crew will broadcast live from 10-3.30 each day throughout the festival, which runs from the 11-16th of July.
Supervised by station production engineer Kim Diack, young volunteers will be staffing the caravan, bringing a by kids for kids sound to the event – giving many a taste of radio we hope will inspire them to think of media as a future career. It also means that parents can tune in from home or work to goings-on at the festival, and the crew also help notify attendees of lost children (or parents!) and lost property.
Thanks go to our regular programme-makers for their ongoing support of this outside broadcast, as it does affect the station’s usual programming.
