Radio Southland is pleased to introduce our new Station Coordinator – Rachael Goldsmith
Rachael comes from a background of working in media, politics, social work and tertiary education.
She did produce a show focusing on mental health consumers last year, but her original association with Radio Southland dates back to the late 1990s as a youth programme maker.
Rachael is married to Carl, a music producer for more than 30 years; parent to a teenage parkour expert, Dante; and telecommunications marketer Ayla.
In her spare time she is a foster-fur mother to abandoned and sick SPCA kittens, sits on several NGO boards – including SPCA Southland, Invercargill Social Housing Action, Community Housing Steering Group – and is politically active in the Green Party.
Rachael says she’s very keen to engage with new potential programme makers, so if you’re interested in creating a show about disability, queer, women’s, youth, Pasifika, Maori, or ethnic perspectives – or you have some great local music (both musicians and digital music creators) you want to get to an audience to – then get in touch.
