Radio Southland is pleased to welcome Neville (Mac) McTainsh as its new Station Coordinator.
Nev is very experienced in the radio industry, starting back in 1971 and working all over New Zealand in places like Hamilton, Dunedin, Wellington, Te Kuiti, Tokaroa, Masterton and – most recently – Central Otago.
As a journalist and broadcaster who has a passion for engaging with the community, Nev is looking forward to his first experience in the Access Radio sector.
He also has extensive experience in marketing and management with a variety of companies, which Station Manager Darren Ludlow says will be an asset to Radio Southland.
“We need to extend our links into the business community with new sponsorship options for our shows, and Nev’s skill-set will be a real help in this area,” Darren said.
“Nev’s experience as a broadcaster will be of tremendous use in helping up-skill our existing programme makers, plus provide additional support for the new ones we hope to get on-air this year,” he said.
Nev is enthusiastic about his new role.
“It’s an exciting new challenge and harks back to how I got started in radio,” Nev said.
He also has links to the south. Originally from Owaka, Nev is a former student of James Hargest and lived in Invercargill “a few years back”.
He’s enjoying reacquainting himself with Southland and meeting the many programme makers Radio Southland.
