Radio Southland is proud to announce Amanda Kennedy as the latest addition to the staff.
Amanda was the successful candidate to have applied for the Station Coordinator position after Deborah Smith finished on November 2nd.
Deborah was a dedicated and loyal staff member for over 15 years and forged a close bond with Radio Southland’s many programme makers, but decided in October that it was time for change and announced she would be moving on.
Amanda has a background in recruitment and administration, but says she has always had a love for radio. She is looking forward to getting a greater understanding of the medium and meeting the many people that make Radio Southland station tick.
Amanda understands the great resource community radio is and the opportunities it offers, and is looking forward to starting in her new role from November 12th.
Station Manager Darren Ludlow says he is thrilled to have Amanda join the team (staff and volunteers).
“She’s a smart, charming woman who has a great sense of what we need, and the right personality to help people enjoy what they do with us. She has a lot to offer and I think she’ll fit in quickly,” he said.
“The recruitment process was tough – the quality of applicants was extremely high and there were some great skill sets to draw on. This meant making the final decision took a little longer than expected, but it was flattering to have so many good people express an interest in what we were offering,” Darren said.
